Four Generations of Service

Gracey-Backer, Inc. has been an important player in the independent insurance industry in Florida from the early 1900's. The agency was founded in 1925 by Matthew Gracey III. Frank P. Gracey joined his brother in 1934 to create a dynamic Insurance and Real Estate firm for the budding area. After World War II, Matthew Gracey IV and Robert B. Gracey joined the firm. Barbara Gracey Backer, (B.S. History of Art, Sweet Briar College and MSA. International Business, George Washington University), Vice-President joined in 1977 and Ronald C. Backer, (B.S. Electrical Engineering, South Dakota State University) and formerly an engineer with Pratt Whitney Aircraft, came aboard in 1987, quickly assuming the title of President.

John Backer John Gracey Backer, CPA, a graduate of Auburn University (BSBA Finance and Accounting cum laude, Masters of Accountancy) came into the business in 2011 and defines the fourth generation of family ownership.

Recognition

Gracey-Backer, Inc. has been recognized as a leader in the community. Both Ron and Barbara Backer have served as President of the South Palm Beach County Association of Insurance Agents. We have represented the Southeastern United States on a National Agent Advisory Panel for MetLife Home and Automobile Insurance Company. Our agency was picked to exclusively represent OMS National Insurance Company and Fortress Insurance Company in Florida. We presently serve on national Agent Advisory Panels for both companies.

Award Ribbon Gracey-Backer, Inc. has been a leader in initiating group medical malpractice insurance programs for various societies and physician networks. We put together group programs for The Broward County Society of Plastic Surgeons, the North County Physicians Association, the Palm Beach County Medical Society, the South Florida Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Network, The Florida Society of Gastroenterologists, The Florida Pulmonology Society, The Southeast Women’s Healthcare Program and Urology Consultants of South Florida.
